2025 – 3rd Annual Chili & Chowda Cook-Off at Colloca Estate Winery – Sat. Feb 15, 2025
Are you the ultimate chili or chowder connoisseur? Prove it at our upcoming Chili & Chowda Cook-Off event! Show off your culinary skills and compete for prizes in categories dedicated to Best Chili and Best Chowder. Entrants will receive a $50 Gift Certificate to Colloca Estate Winery to offset their ingredient costs as a Thank You for participating.
Join us on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 from 1 to 4 pm in the Fair Haven Events Center Ballroom at Colloca Estate Winery and be a part of the fun and excitement. Not only will attendees get to sample your delicious recipes, but you'll also have a chance to win great prizes and bragging rights as the best cook in town. Rules: Quantity of Product to Prepare. A minimum of 2 gallons (256 oz) of chili must be brought to the competition to provide as samples to the attendees who will vote for their favorites in the award categories. We recommend bringing three gallons. All chili or chowder must be made off-site from scratch and brought to the event in a crock pot to keep it warm on-site.
1. Serving & Sample Sizes. Entrants will serve their chili to attendees in small 2 oz cups provided by Colloca Winery during the hours of 12 pm to 3:45 pm. In addition to a crock pot, please bring your own serving spoon to fill the 2 oz sample cups.
2. Fees. There is no fee to enter the competition. Each entrant will receive a $50 Gift Certificate to Colloca Estate Winery to offset their ingredient costs as a ‘Thank You’ for participating. A cash bar will be available for drink purchases.
3. Procedures. Set-up will be available from 11:00 am. Colloca Estate Winery will provide Entrants with table space, tablecloths, a power outlet to plug in their crock pot, sample cups/spoons for guests to sample your chili, napkins, and scorecards. Business entrants are welcome to bring brochures or signage to advertise their business participation. Chili must be heated and ready for judging by 12:45 pm.
4. Categories and Divisions. Categories will be for Best Chili and Best Chowder with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and an overall Colloca Chili & Chowda Champ. Winners will be announced at 4 pm. Each participant may only submit one entry. A prize will be awarded to each winner. We will have honorable mentions in categories like ‘Tongue Burner’, ‘Most Creative’, and ‘Best Traditional’.
5. Judging. Judging will be based on the tallied scores of the attendees who each will receive a scorecard to submit during the event. Prizes will be given to the winners at the awards ceremony held at 4 pm.
6. Entry. The event is open to all ages, but participants under 18 must have parent or guardian consent to participate. Entrants can sign up online to compete at www.colloca.com/chili-chowder-cook-off.
